Little Penguin

I'm a little penguin in the snow,
I slide on my tummy, to and fro.
I eat the fish from the deep blue sea.
I'm black and white as you can see.

Eggs

Lots of animals come from eggs
Some with fins
And some with legs
Some that chatter
And some that sheep
Some that fly
And some that creep
Some that slither
And some that run
Some with feathers
And some with none

Aninmal eggs can be quite small
Or just as big as a tennis ball.

The animals here--
They're quite a few--
Hatch from eggs and lay them too.

Jungle Song

(sung to Twinkle Twinkle)

Tiger, tiger, orange and black.
He's got stripes upon his back.
When he growls sharp teeth I see,
He's as scary as can be!
Tiger, tiger, orange and lack.
He's got stripes upon his back.

Elephant, elephant, large and gray,
Swings his trunk along the way.
His ears are big, his tusks are white.
Don't be scared he does not bite!
Elephant, elephant, large and gray,
Swings his trunk along the way.

Crocodile, crocodile, long and green.
The sharpest teeth you've ever seen.
His legs are short, his mouth is wide.
If you get too close, you'll be inside!
Crocodile, crocodile, long and green.
The sharpest teeth you've ever seen.

Giraffe, giraffe so very tall.
He spreads his legs so he won't fall.
He eats leaves fro the tops of trees.
His long neck helps him reach them with ease.
Giraffe, giraffe so very tall.
He spreads his legs so he won't fall.

Hippopotamus wallows and lies,
In the mud right up to his eyes.
Wallowing in the muddy pool
Keeps his skin so very cool.
Hippopotamus wallows and lies,
In the mud right up to his eyes.

Lion, lion, mighty and strong.
With a very loud roar and mane so long.
A lioness has no mane.
A cub is a baby lion's name.
Lion, lion, mighty and strong.
With a very loud roar and mane so long.

Five Garden Snails

Five garden snails
Sleeping in the sun,
Along comes a _(choose a color)_ bird
And flies away with one.

[Repeat as a count down.]

Ideas
This is a good finger-play for both colors and counting.

If you play with children in a line you can call the color of the kids shirt to be the bird and have everyone else crouch in a curled snail position on the ground.

Monkey Swing Game

Little monkeys swing in a tree
All hold hands and swing with me.

Swing up high and swing down low,
Swing in the tree, now don’t let go.
Swing, swing, swing, like I do
Swing like monkeys in the zoo!

You can do this all in a circle. And you can practive high and low (or switch it and say fast or slow).
You can ask different ways to swing and different body parts to swing.

The _______ at the Zoo

The monkeys at the zoo,
The monkeys at the zoo,
Hi-ho they laugh and play,
The monkeys at the zoo

The monkeys run and hide,
The monkeys run and hide,
They like to play, Then run away.
The monkeys at the zoo!

This is a fabulous simple finger play to try and insert any animal into.
YOu can change the animal and the movement to almost anything!

Bird--fly
Kangaroo--jump
whale--swim

Three Little Penguins

Three little penguins dressed in white and black.
They waddle, waddle forward, and they waddle, waddle back.
They waddle to the left and they waddle to the right.
They stand on the ice and they look very nice,
As they waddle along on their little flat feet.

(Act this out)

5 Little Owls

Five little owls in the old elm tree
Fluffy and puffy as owls could be,
Blinking and winking with big round eyes
At the big round moon that hung in the skies.
As I passed beneath, I could hear one say,
"There'll be mouse for supper, there will today."
Then all of them hooted "tu-whit, tu-whoo!
Yes, mouse for supper, Hoo hoo. Hoo hoo!"
