Standing is Stupid
Standing is stupid,
Crawling’s a curse,
Skipping is silly,
Walking is worse.
Hopping is hopeless,
Jumping a chore,
Sitting is senseless,
Leaning’s a bore.
Running’s ridiculous.
Jogging’s insane–
Guess I’ll go upstairs and
Lie down again.

Poem: Magic Carpet
Magic Carpet
You have a magic carpet
That can whiz you through the air,
To Spain or Maine or Africa,
If you will tell it where.
So will you let it take you
Where you’ve never been before,
Or will you buy some drapes to match
And use it on your floor?

Poem: Put Something In
(good poem for both Covey Habits 1 and 7)
Put Something In
Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-Gumble song,
Whistle through your comb.
Do a loony-Goony dance
‘Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain’t been there before.

Poem: Hammock
Hammock
Grandma sent the hammock,
The good Lord sent the breeze.
I’m here to do the swinging – –
Now, who’s gonnamove the trees

Poem: Traffic Light
Traffic light
The traffic light simply would not turn green
So the people stopped to wait
How’s the traffic rolled and the wind blew cold
And the hour grew dark and late.
Zoom –varoom, trucks, trailers
Bikes and limousines,
Clatterin’ by – me oh my!
Won’t that light turn green?
But the days turned weeks, and the weeks turned months
And there on the corner they stood,
Twidlin’ their thumbs till the changin’ comes
The way good people should.
And if you walk by that corner now,
You may think it’s rather strange
To see them there as they hopefully gawe
With the very same smile on their very same face
As they patiently stand in the very same place
And wait for the light to change.

Poem: Lazy Jane
Lazy Jane
Lazy
lazy
lazy
lazy
lazy
lazy
Jane,
she
wants
a
drink
of
water
so
she
waits
and waits
and
waits
and
waits
and
waits
for
it
to
rain.
